About the Department

The Public Works Department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and construction of City-owned infrastructure and facilities and provides cost-effective, sustainable solutions for the long-term performance and delivery of these services.

Public Works personnel maintain and improve streets and sidewalks, drainage and flood control, parks and recreation facilities, building spaces and grounds, wastewater collection and treatment, and manage capital improvement projects, programs, and public transit (Atascadero Dial-A-Ride).
